Liturgical Ministries

Good liturgy depends on your spirit, participation and service.  It takes many volunteers each week to provide our community with welcoming and engaging celebrations at three churches.  If you would like to serve our parish in a Liturgical Ministry please contact the parish office.
Sacristans
The role of the Sacristan is to prepare for the celebration of the Eucharist and to prepare for celebrations.  Sacristans are asked to arrive approximately 30 minutes prior to Mass to make the appropriate preparations for the day.

Hospitality
“For I was a stranger and you welcomed me.” (Matthew 23:31)

As a Minister of Hospitality, you will contribute to the feeling of hospitality for all who attend mass, whether they are long standing members or visitors.

Hospitality is the basis of the ministry. The Hospitality Minister is often the first person whom the parishioners meet when they enter the church. Your smile reflects the sincerity of the welcome from the community. Our church is characterized by warmth, friendship and hospitality, a place where all are equal before God; a place where dialogue and interaction are encouraged.

Altar Servers
Individuals and families are invited to serve as Altar Servers during Mass times. Training for this ministry is done at different times of the year for both new servers and as a refresher for current servers. There is no age limitation for Altar Servers serving within of a family team. For individuals wanting to serve, a minimum age of 9 or 10 is recommended.

Lectors
“The Word became flesh, and dwelt among us” (John 1:14)

The role of the Lector during Mass is to proclaim the first and second readings and the prayers of the faithful.  Lectors are asked to prepare for this ministry by reviewing readings in advance and arriving 15 minutes before Mass.   Training is provided at various times throughout the year for those interested in volunteering for this ministry.

Eucharistic Ministers
“This is my body” (Mark 14:22)

Eucharistic Ministers assist in the distribution of the Holy Communion to the community during Mass.  Training is provided to new ministers at different times throughout the year.

Music
“Make a joyful noise to the Lord all the earth; break forth into joyous songs and sing praises” (Psalm 98:4)

Our Lady of Peace Music Ministry is a varied collection of people from all walks of life, all ages and all levels of musical ability. The one common thread which binds these music ministers together is their love of music and their desire to praise through song.  Choirs at all three churches welcome people of all ages to join.
